Mahindra is believed to be working on giving the Quanto a comprehensive update and is extensively testing the vehicle in this regard. A camouflaged test mule was spied testing recently in Bengaluru and for the first time has been spotted with DRLs.
Though the camouflage masks the changes, it is quite evident from these spyshots that the facelifted Quanto will get a new grille, redesigned headlights and new front and rear bumpers to give the vehicle an SUV-like look. The latest addition to the car comes in the form of DRLs placed the headlamps. The Quanto now also gets a hood scoop on the bonnet, which seems to be added only for an aesthetic appeal.
There are not likely to be many changes to the cabin, but the new Quanto might get some additional features and upgrade in quality of the upholstery. This upgraded Quanto is expected to continue with the five-speed manual gearbox but there might be a variant featuring from the Quanto AMT autoSHIFT that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The Quanto facelift will be powered by the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder twin-scroll turbo diesel engine. This mill produces 100bhp of power and 240 Nm of torque. We hope that the new Quanto comes equipped with regenerative braking system like the one showcased at the Auto Expo in 2014.
The refreshed Quanto might be launched soon with Mahindra’s plan of bring in more facelifted models for the Indian market this year. Hopefully the upgraded sub-four-metre vehicle will be appreciated by the Indian consumers who desire a seven-seater vehicle at a competitive price.
