Mahindra and Mahindra have started the New Year on a positive note with their sales figures going up by 13 per cent year on year in January. Despite the ban on sales of diesel SUVs over 2000cc in Delhi, Mahindra has been able to boost their sales.
Mahindra’s forte, the utility vehicles, have done well selling 21,034 units last month as against the 18,550 units sold in January 2015. The utility vehicle portfolio consists of the flagship XUV500 followed by the Scorpio, Bolero and the TUV300 SUVs and the Xylo MUV. The recent addition of the KUV100 to the line-up should make its presence felt in time, though it is not sure if it will be counted under SUV or cars.
The cars section at Mahindra has the Verito and the almost non-existing Verito Vibe. The car sales went marginally up to 1,054 units, selling 31 more cars as compared to last year. Mahindra has recently launched the XUV500 and the Scorpio with a sub-2.0-litre engine for the Delhi-NCR markets so that the sales for the quarter are not affected much due to the Supreme Court ruling.
