Mahindra and Mahindra has pulled the plug on the two-door version of the e2o hatchback. This move isn't surprising as it clears the way for the recently introduced four-door e2oPlus version.
The e2o, one of the many zero emission products from Mahindra, is a practical car and takes up less space on the roads. The new e2oPlus is a similar model, and offers the same package as the outgoing model. However, the updates to the powertrain in the e2oPlus mean a longer driving range and fast charging options. Also the longer wheelbase has translated into more space inside and the addition of two doors makes it easier for the passengers to get in and out of the vehicle.
There seemed no point in continuing to sell the two-door e2o in India when the carmaker had a better model to offer. Prospective buyers will anyway opt for the e2oPlus with a bigger driving range, more practicality and a bigger cabin. Mahindra might however continue to export the two-door model to the UK. For the Indian market, there are only three models currently - e2oPlus, eVerito and the eSupro.
