Mahindra will launch its Marrazo SUV on 3 September and ahead of the debut, details of the variants have been leaked onto the interweb. The Marrazo will be offered in four variants and only with a diesel engine option.
The variants, in true Mahindra style, have been named M2, M6, M4 and the M8. Sources say that all variants will get dual front airbags, speed sensing door locks, ISOFIX child seat mounting points and ABS with EBD. Of these, the airbags and ABS with EBD are compulsory due to government regulations.
The base variant M2 gets USB charging points for the second row, driver’s seat height adjustment, rear wiper and wash and 16-inch steel wheels. The M4 variant sees the addition of wheel caps, shark fin antenna, voice messaging system and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
The M6 variant gets alloy wheels, front and rear fog lamps, projector headlights, touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, rear parking sensors and steering mounted audio controls. The top-of-the-line M8 variant gets 17-inch wheels, LED DRLs, faux leather upholstery, reverse camera display, automatic climate control and power folding ORVMs.
The Marrazo is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine. This is expected to produce 130bhp and 300Nm and will be only offered with a six-speed MT.
The Marrazo is Mahindra’s answer to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Renault Lodgy in entry-level MPV segment of the Indian car market. Bookings for the car have already begun and we believe that Mahindra will price it in the range of Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs.
