Recently, we have written plenty of stories surrounding the new compact hatchback from Mahindra. Back in December, the company had unveiled the car’s name in a much-publicised event and had also announced the launch date then. Here’s a quick summary of what the baby XUV500 will be coming home with. As the name suggests, the KUV100 is being targeted at the youth and that factor is highlighted in its exterior amply well. Its aggressive styling and dominating SUV stance is something that can attribute to the Mahindra DNA. We have also talked about the interior details here.
In the same event in December, Mahindra also introduced us to the mFalcon range of engines. Powering the KUV100 will be engines from the same family, with options in petrol (mFalcon G80) and diesel (mFalcon D75). The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine develops 82bhp of power at 5500rpm and 114Nm of torque while the 1.2-litre diesel 3-cyclinder engine will deliver 77bhp of power at 3725rpm and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines will be mated to a five-speed transmission. The car will be sold in seven variants and will get ABS as standard across all the trims.
The KUV100 will be priced within a range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh and will compete with mid-size hatchbacks like the Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Swift, Nissan Micra and the Renault Pulse.
