A teaser video for the Mahindra KUV100 has been released ahead of its official launch on January 15. For a long time we only knew the compact SUV through its codename, S101. It was officially christened the KUV100 (Kool Utility Vehicle) on December 18.
The commercial shows almost all the details of the car in the metal including the cheetah grille, LED DRLs, high ground clearance and grey body kit to give the car its muscle image. It also confirms that Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan will be the brand ambassador for the new car.
The car will be offered with a new set of petrol (a first for Mahindra) and diesel engines. Both mills are from the mFalcon family and are 1.2-litre three-cylinder units. The petrol is good for 82bhp/114Nm of torque while the diesel produces 77bhp/190Nm of torque. A five-speed manual is expected to be standard with an AMT scheduled for later. We have already detailed the specifications and variants and you can find a link at the bottom of this story.
The KUV100 will be Mahindra’s entry into the highly competitive B-segment of the Indian car market. Their approach to KUV100 has been to play on their strengths as utility vehicle makers thus its pseudo SUV(ish) looks.
