- Will retain powertrain options from the current iteration
- To get larger infotainment, digital driver’s display, sunroof, and more
Mahindra India has revealed the launch timeline of its most anticipated model, the five-door Thar. The lifestyle off-roader is all set to debut in the country on 15 August, 2024. The Indian automaker always goes big on Independence Day with major announcements, model reveals, and launches.
The upcoming five-door Thar will continue with the same silhouette as the existing three-door version but with a longer wheelbase and two extra doors. On the design front, the model will flaunt revised front and rear bumpers, tweaked front grille, circular LED headlamps with DRLs, LED fog lamps, pillar-mounted rear door handles, and larger 19-inch redesigned alloy wheels. Moreover, the Five-door off-roader will benefit from an electrically adjustable single-pane sunroof, front camera, and front parking sensors.
Coming to the interiors, the cabin of the five-door Thar will be a major step up from the current version. It will get a larger infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, digital instrument cluster, new steering wheel, redesigned centre console, auto-dimming IRVM, and new seat upholstery.
Under the bonnet, the Thar five-door will likely continue with the same powertrain options as the three-door Thar. Transmission options too will be carried over from the current iteration. Upon its launch, the Mahindra five-door Thar will compete against the Maruti Jimny and the upcoming five-door Force Gurkha in the lifestyle off-roader segment.
