Adding value to World environment day celebrations and promoting e-mobility, Mahindra Electric has collaborated with Zoomcar to offer self-drive EVs in Mumbai. On the other hand, Tata Motors today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Government of Maharashtra for deployment of 1000 Electric Vehicles (EV) across its range of passenger and commercial vehicles in the State. Partnering with a Tata group company, Tata Power Ltd, Tata Motors will facilitate setting up of EV charging stations in the state.
Mahindra is set to offer 50 units of the e2oPlus on the Zoomcar platform in Maharashtra and will touch around 100 EVs in the next quarter. The vehicles were flagged off on the platform in the presence of Hon’ble Chief minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis at the iconic monument of Gateway of India, Mumbai. The initiative is aimed at promoting connected, shared and electric mobility as a model, which is in line with the recommendations in the NITI Aayog report on the government’s 2030 vision. Interestingly, the announcement comes as one of the first initiatives taken in the light of Maharashtra’s EV policy.
At the same venue Chief Minister also flagged off five units of the Tata Tigor EVs. These vehicles were provided by Tata Motors to EESL as part of its tender. Speaking on the occasion Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors said, “As part of our tender with EESL, we have already completed the production of 250 cars and initiated the execution of phase two orders. Today’s delivery of five Tigor EVs by EESL to the Maharashtra Government has effectively paved way for connecting our aspirations in the e-mobility space with the Government’s vision. With Tigor EV, we have begun our journey in boosting e-mobility and will offer a full range of electric vehicles to the Indian customers. We continue to work in a collaborative manner to facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles and to build a sustainable future for India.”
