Not long ago, Mahindra Reva made an official entry into Nepal and Bhutan with its electric vehicle offering called the e2o. Up till now, the brand reportedly has received an impressive response from both the markets which offer a good amount of incentives for electric mobility.
The company is now eyeing at the European and Sri Lankan markets. If the recent reports are to be believed, Mahindra Reva will be seen entering the European markets, particularly the UK and Norway, by the end of 2014.
Naturally, Mahindra Reva will make a few enhancements to the India-spec e2o before signing it off to export markets. The brand, in fact, is said to be working on additional features such as airbags, ABS, power steering and improved battery range for the Europeans-spec e2o. Similarly, the improved version of the car can also be expected to go on sale in Sri Lanka where electric vehicles are already offered with incentives. The launch of the new e2o will only strengthen Reva’s presence in Europe as the brand is known for selling the original Reva (called G-Wiz in Europe).
The Indian market may not be ready to get into the EV race just yet, but Mahindra Reva is doing its bit to contribute to the EV revolution. Looking to adopt and develop zero emission mobility in the country, the brand has undertaken a number of initiatives which include setting up charging stations in a number of cities. But despite the efforts, the e2o is not selling as well as the company would have liked. Now it seems the only way out is to somehow bring the price down a bit or introduce an improved version of the e2o with better performance and driving range.
