Mahindra Electric, the carmaker's newly acquired moniker for their electric mobility division, has launched the new e2o Plus in India. But don't we already have an e2o? So how different is it from the standard e2o available in the Indian market? Hang on to your questions as the following picture gallery will give you a complete idea of the changes and new features.
The design of the e2o Plus is identical to the existing e2o, but it is a four-door model unlike the two-door e2o. This adds to the convenience of the rear occupants of getting in and out of the car.
It measures 3,590mm in length, 1,575mm in width and 1,585mm in height. It sports a wheelbase of 2,258mm and has ground clearance of 170mm.
The fascia gets a new look thanks to the new grille with vertical slats, swept-back headlamps with projector lighting and a new bumper design.
Inside, things are very familiar as the complete layout and equipment is same as the existing e2o. However, the cabin feels much spacious and airy in comparison to its sibling.
The digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system is carried over from the regular e2o. The latter gets smartphone integration with navigation system and climate control.
The increase in dimensions has helped liberate some more space inside the cabin of the car. Also the redesigned window line allows a better outside view as against the e2o.
What the e2o Plus has benefitted the most from, is the increase in boot space. It now stands at 135 litres. Interestingly, it can also offer more space with the rear seat folded down.
The name 'e2o Plus' stands for ‘Energy to Oxygen and Plus’. It promises zero emissions, low running costs and efficient home charging.
Charging the car can be done are via a 3kW single phase 16 Amp charger which takes six hours, while fast charge via a 10kW 3 phase 32 Amp charger can be accomplished in 75-90 minutes.
The new electric vehicle is priced from Rs 5.46 to Rs 8.46 lakh, after FAME subsidies from the Indian government. It's currently the only fully fledged electric four-door hatchback in India.
The Mahindra e2o Plus is also the company's fourth electric model following the e2o, eVerito and recently launched eSupro passenger and goods carrier.
