Mahindra will launch the e-Verito for the Indian market on June 2. This electric vehicle was exhibited at the 2016 Auto Expo at the start of this year.
The 'e-Verito' is a fully electric vehicle based on the Verito sedan. The engine from the Verito has been replaced by an electric AC motor that delivers 29kW (39bhp) of power. This is different from the 19kW motor that powers the e2o hatchback. However, the chassis and body is straightway carried over from the Verito sedan. This electric car can do a top speed of 86kmph and run for 100kms on a full charge. It takes six hours to avail the full range, while a quick charge takes two hours.
In terms of appearance, the e-Verito is same as the existing Verito sedan. However, the upcoming car gets low resistance tyres and some tweaks to the interior. The additional 'Automatic', 'Powered by Reva', 'ME' and 'Electric' badges differentiates it from the regular car.
This fully electric vehicle will be offered in three variants - D2, D4 and D6. We expect the base variant to be priced less than Rs 8 lakh, which will make it a thought-provoking proposition. It will also be interesting to see how the Indian buyers will take this electric car, with no noise and an environment-friendly powertrain. Hopefully, the government's incentives on electric and hybrid cars should push the sales of the Mahindra e-Verito.
