Mahindra’s compact Verito may be called the Vibe. According to a report in the Economic Times, the car’s price will start at Rs six lakh but we believe that this is the price for the base diesel. The newly launch Honda Amaze starts at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and that means that means Mahindra will have to price the base petrol version significantly lower to keep it in league with its rivals.
The sub four-metre Vibe will be powered by the same set of mills that power its bigger sibling, the Verito. This means the 1.5-litre Renault K9K diesel mill producing 66PS+160Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre petrol mill producing 76PS and 110Nm of torque. Power for engines will be transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
Some reports suggest that the more premium variants of the car will borrow some features from the Xylo and the bigger Verito. The Vibe along with the Quanto will be Mahindra’s second entrant into the sub- four metre vehicle segment and will be their smallest vehicle ever built till date.
The Vibe is expected to be launched sometime next month and will take on vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and the Volkswagen Polo.
