The first ever edition of the Mahindra’s Club Challenge is currently taking place at Miramar Goa. The competition is intense as 10 teams are locked in a battle to claim what is undoubtedly a new and quite coveted trophy among the multitude of off-road clubs in India.
After the driver’s briefing and a ceremonial flag-off yesterday evening, the competitors made their way to the off-road arena near the Goa International Conventional Centre. Upon arrival they were greeted by ditches, slopes, slush pits and rocky outcrops all designed to push their highly modified Mahindra Thar SUVs to the very limit.
After facing certain time constraints due to external factors the competition got underway but only two obstacles could be completed by the end of day-1. However, this was hardly anything to lament about as the first challenge which was a flag relay a.k.a the mucky relay had many of the competitors pushing their vehicles to the limit to get across the finish line within the seven minute timeline. In fact one of the obstacles turned out to be so tough that it managed to stump nearly every jeep that took the plunge.
At the end of day-1 and two obstacles completed, it is Goa based Incredible Off-Roaders leading the challenge with 56 points ahead of Kerala based KTM Jeepers and Coimbatore based Tamil Nadu Off-Roaders who have scored 54 and 53 points respectively.
We are at the arena and will bring you today’s updates as they pan out so stay tuned to CarWale on Facebook and Twitter for all the details!
