Mahindra and Mahindra announced the successful completion of one year of its flagship SUV, the XUV500. In this time, the Indian SUV major has sold 35,000 units of the XUV500 and is enjoying a 60 per cent share in the premium SUV market.
The XUV500 continues to receive strong response and Mahindra has ramped up its production to 5000 units a month to cope with a waiting list, which currently is over 14, 000 customers. The XUV500 is also doing well in Australia and South Africa. It was recently unveiled in Rome and will enter Europe and other international markets soon.
Speaking on the success of the XUV500, Pravin Shah, chief executive, automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra said “We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from customers to the XUV500 that has led to impressive sales of 35,000+ in just one year. This is a benchmark for sales among high-end SUVs.”
