- Both ground-up electric cars
- Introductory prices announced
Mahindra and Mahindra recently unveiled the BE 6e and XEV 9e, while also launching these electric cars at the same event. The carmaker has also released separate promotional videos showing the vehicles’ design traits and new features.
Both the cars are electric SUV coupes based on the brand's INGLO platform. However, the BE 6e is based on the BE.05 concept with a more aggressive and athletic version. Meanwhile, the 9e is bigger and comes across as a more urban commute and family-friendly vehicle though not depicted in the promos. But then it differentiates itself with more space and three screens on the dashboard unlike the 6e with two screens but a driver-focused cockpit.
Regarding features, both the cars are loaded to the brim and get new and modern equipment. Be it the illuminated sunroof, multiple driving modes, Mahindra Sonic audio system, or ADAS, the cars bring in a perspective of what all new features to expect from the brand. Even on the technological advancements front, the cars boast a parking assistant system, regenerative braking, semi-active suspension, and a brake-by-wire system.
There are two battery options on offer — 59 kWh and 79 kWh. While the power outputs are slightly different but all above 200bhp, the torque figure of 380Nm remains the same throughout for both cars and any variant one chooses.
Both are five-seater cars but the smaller BE 6e is priced at Rs. 18.9 lakh, while the XEV 9e at Rs. 21.9 lakh (introductory ex-showroom). These are prices just for the entry-level Pack One and more variants are expected to be revealed in a phased manner. Deliveries are expected to commence by the end of February or early March next year.
