At the 2018 Auto Expo, Mahindra unveiled its version of the G4 Rexton with an announcement that the car would be launched in India later this year. Now, ahead of its debut, the car has been spotted doing the rounds in Maharashtra.
We’ve already seen the car at the Auto Expo and know that in production guise it is essentially a rebadged and re-grilled version of the G4 Rexton that was launched globally last year. It will be Mahindra’s new flagship vehicle and slot in above the XUV500 in their official line up.
At the time of being launched, this vehicle will be given a Mahindra specific name (our money is on XUV700) and will be offered with a four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel, six-speed torque converter and AWD as standard. This car will be locally assembled in India at the same facility where the previous generation Rexton was produced. It goes up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan.
