The Mahindra Alturas G4 (Y400 SUV) will be launched in India on November 24 and it will be officially offered in two variants and four colour options. The two variants are 2WD AT and 4WD AT while the colour options are grey, brown, black and white. Also, the car can be booked online with the amount set at Rs 50,000.
This is Mahindra’s premium SUV to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Honda CR-V (in diesel). It was unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo and is essentially the second generation G4 Ssangyong Rexton but will be sold in India with Mahindra badging. It’s going to be locally assembled at Mahindra’s Chakan plant.
The only engine on offer will be a 2.2-litre diesel producing 185bhp/420Nm and mated to a seven-speed AT. The top-of-the-line version with extra features gets AWD. It is 4.8-meters in length and with a wheelbase of 2.83-meters.
Mahindra has already confirmed that the Alturas G4 will be priced above the Rs 30 lakhs price bracket. It’s expected that Mahindra will try to match the pricing of the Fortuner as this is the most successful car in this price bracket.
