Mahindra is gearing up for the Indian debut of their new flagship SUV, the Alturas G4. The full-size SUV will be launched in India on 24 November and will be available across two variants and four colour options. Ahead of the official launch, the rebadged Rexton G4 was spotted at the dealer’s yard sans any camouflage.
Mahindra has also revealed some important details of the SUV. The Alturas G4 will come equipped with features like eight-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, dual zone climate control, 350-degree camera, ventilated seats, active rollover protection and most importantly nine airbags.
Of all the details available at the moment, we know that the two variants which will be available at the launch are 2WD AT and 4WD AT. Meanwhile, the colour options will be – grey, brown, black and white. Mahindra has also commenced online booking with the amount set at Rs 50,000. The cabin, as seen in the images, will get dual-tone interior with quilted leather upholstery, steering mounted control, knurled rotary knobs, piano-black inserts and large touchscreen display mounted on an upright centre console. Even the five-spoke alloy wheels look the part on the seven-seater.
The Alturas G4 will be sold through a separate high-end showroom within the existing Mahindra ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships. Similar to Nexa, these outlets will be equipped with modern digital technology for the customers. The customers will also have access to exclusive relationship managers. With the Alturas, Mahindra will also be introducing a new premium loyalty program, called Purple Club+. This Purple Club+ program will be a first-in-category loyalty program that would enable customers to earn and redeem points based on engagements with the brand.
Engine wise, the only powertrain on offer will be a 2.2-litre diesel producing 185bhp/420Nm and mated to a seven-speed AT. According to international specs, the dimensions would be around 4.8-meters in length with a wheelbase of 2.83-meters. Mahindra has already confirmed that the Alturas G4 will be priced around the Rs 30 lakhs price bracket. This makes it a rival to the segment leader Toyota Fortuner apart from the Ford Endeavour and Skoda Kodiaq.
