Maruti Suzuki has commenced exports of the Baleno hatchback. The first batch dispatched from India has been unloaded at Toyohashi Port in Japan.
The Baleno is the first car from Maruti Suzuki to be exported to the parent company’s home market, Japan. The Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz rival is based on a new platform, which will also underpin the soon to be launch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
Suzuki will be offering the petrol version of the Baleno is Japan. The part of the engine line up will also be the new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged engine producing 110bhp, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The Baleno with the same engine set up will be launched here in mid-2016, ahead of the festive season.
