After showcasing the new Air sedan in December last year, Lucid Motors (formerly known as Atieva) has now revealed the pricing of its Tesla-rivalling all-electric sedan. The Air sedan will be launched in two specs – a Base variant and a limited number Launch Edition. The Base variant is priced at $52,500, after the subtraction of federal tax subvention on the electric car. The Launch Edition, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of $100,000, however, the carmaker is “not yet able to provide specific top-of-the-line pricing.”
In the Base variant, you get a range of 386km from a 400bhp electric motor, all the necessary autonomous driving hardware, 12-way adjustable front seats, four screens, a total of ten airbags and an equal number of speakers, 19-inch wheels and an all-aluminium roof. The car will receive over-the-air updates just like the one in Tesla. If that’s not enough, the customers can opt from the host of optional extras.
Firstly, the range could be extended to either 506 or 645km with a larger battery pack. The power figures can be boosted to 1,000 horsepower via a twin-motor configuration sending power to all four wheels. The rear seats get a 55degree recline, the speakers count increases to 29, with active noise cancellation. The glass canopy roof can be opted along with opulent upholstery.
The first 255 vehicles will be sold as the Launch Edition, which will be very well optioned as standard. These Limited Editions will tick all the options over the Base variant and will have a 506km range and 1,000bhp as standard along with unique body colours and badging. The manufacturer asserts that additional features will follow closer to the start of production. The booking amount for the limited Launch Edition is a $25,000, while the other rest of the vehicles can be booked for an amount of $2,500.
The electric sedan will hit production late next year, andthe first set of cars are expected to be rolling out on the streets only in 2019.
