Volvo first revealed the S60L at the 2013 Guangzhou Motor Show. Designed to offer a more luxurious rear seat experience compared to a standard S60, the S60L is a long wheelbase version which is currently available only for the Chinese market.
Volvo, at present, makes the S60L at its manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China. But according to Reuters, the Swedish carmaker is looking to sell the S60L in the United States. A senior Volvo executive has reportedly confirmed that the brand will export the China-made S60L to the United States. It is also being said that Volvo plans to export nearly 10,000 units of the S60L annually.
The S60L, like other long wheelbase luxury sedans from rival brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, has been designed specifically for markets where rear sear comfort is a top priority. With India being one such market, the S60L will make a lot of sense if Volvo India ever decides to bring it here and put it on sale.
