Jaguar currently offers its flagship XJ sedan in long wheelbase form, however, it seems the brand is about to give a similar treatment to the smaller XF. Spotted recently on test, this stretched version of the regular XF will be sold specifically in China as Jaguar knows the long wheelbase design is best suited to Chinese customers’ liking for a luxurious back seat experience.
The long wheelbase version of the XF will be called the XF L and the car will be based on the latest-gen XF which uses Jaguar’s new aluminium intensive architecture called iQ[Al]. When launched, the XF L will be offered in both rear and four-wheel drive configuration.
The XF L will compete with the Audi A6 L in China. Like the Chinese market, long wheelbase versions of high-end cars are quite popular among luxury car buyers in India; however, automakers here have restricted these stretched versions to their respective flagship models including the Jaguar XJ L and the Audi A8 L.
