Long wheelbase versions of luxury sedans are quite popular in China. After BMW, Mercedes and Audi, its Jaguar’s turn to introduced a long wheelbase version of their mid-size executive sedan, the XE.
This new model’s wheelbase has been extended by 12cm for more room in the rear. The XE L will be manufactured locally by the Chery-JLR joint venture. Whereas the regular XE is imported into China, this will be a locally made model which will allow Jaguar to sell it at a lower price point.
Engine options for the long wheelbase model will include a 200bhp, 2-litre turbo, a 240bhp 2-litre turbo, and a high performance 340bhp 3-litre turbo V6.
The Jaguar XE L will compete with other long wheelbase luxury sedans like the Audi A4 L, Mercedes C-Class L and the BMW 4Li.
