Long wheelbase versions of premium cars are fairly popular in China. After BMW, Mercedes and Audi, its Jaguar’s turn to introduce a long wheelbase version of the XE. This new model will go on sale in China starting next month.
The XE L’s wheelbase has been extended by 10cm for more room in the rear. It will be manufactured locally by the Chery-JLR joint venture. Whereas the regular XE is imported into China, this will be a locally made model which will allow Jaguar to sell it at a lower price point. Engine options for the long wheelbase model will include a 200bhp 2-litre turbo and a 240bhp 2-litre turbo.
The Jaguar XE L will compete against other long wheelbase sedans like the Volvo S60L, Audi A4 L, Mercedes C-Class L and the BMW 3Li.
