Earlier, Jaguar had announced the local manufacturing of the diesel variants of their flagship luxury sedan- the XJ. Now, the British manufacturer has launched two variants of the XJ which are locally manufactured at its production facility in Pune. The Premium Luxury version is priced at Rs 92.10 lakh while the Portfolio model costs Rs 98.69 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The XJL is the flagship model from Jaguar and the automaker has endeavoured to provide a consumer the perfect combination of comfort and driving pleasure. The luxury car has an innovative design, packed with all the features that one could ever imagine in a luxury sedan with a powerful engine. The new variant gets the upgraded rear seat comfort pack with three massage seat functions, increased rear headroom, electric rear side window blinds, LED reading lights, 25.9 cm (10.2) rear infotainment screens and a new rear business table.
The key features of the Premium Luxury trim include 45.72 cm (18) Meru alloy wheels, soft grain leather seats (20/20 way) with electric driver's and passenger's adjustment and drivers 3 position memory. Apart from this Jaguar Smart Key System™ with keyless entry, Meridian Audio System (380W), rear parking aid with touch-screen visual indicator are offered as standard with this version.
The Portfolio variant gets 48.26 cm (19) Toba alloy wheels, soft grain leather seats (20/20 way) with ventilated heated and cooled front and rear seats, Meridian™ 825W Surround Sound System with 20 speakers and single slot CD, Bi-function HID Xenon headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting, cornering lamps and intelligent high beam. It also comes equipped with four zone automatic climate control.
The diesel fueled 3.0-litre V6 engine that powers the Jaguar XJL churns out 271bhp of power and 600Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre mill produces 240bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. Both the engine variants are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
At the Auto Expo 2014, Jaguar had announced their plans of locally assembling the XJ at its plant in Pune, Maharashtra. The plant currently assembles two models – the Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Jaguar XF. In addition to these two, now the XJ long wheelbase will be assembled at this facility as well.
