Though quite a load of information relating to this hugely awaited SUV is already out, what we do not know and have been eagerly waiting to find out is the pricing. And that is something Mahindra will finally announce as it gets ready to launch the new Scorpio in a short while.
The new Scorpio has been eagerly awaited for all the right reasons. Not only is it more refined and modern compared to the model it replaces; the new Scorpio also promises to take the desirability quotient up for Mahindra with its XUV 500-inspired interiors and additional features.

Pawan Goenka takes us back to the beginning. The redefining moment for Mahindra, the day when Scorpio was born 12 years ago n 2002. It redefined the SUV category in India. It demonstrated for the first time the ability of engineers to do automotive development.
He is now detailing the timeline of the growth of the Scorpio. When they launched the Scorpio for the first time there was no electronics but now there are more than 20 computers working within it. Over the years they have focused on safety and riding comfort.

Mahindra and Mahindra chief executive Pravin Shah is now on stage to tell us more about the Scorpio.
Mr Shah tells the audience about the obstacles they faced while building the Scorpio. Today, 12 years later, Scorpio is an iconic brand and has emerged a champion. Domination, ability to raise the bar and remain consistent is what the Scorpio is all about.
There are more than 4.5 lakh Scorpios on the Indian roads.
2013-2014 witnessed the highest ever sales since its launch.
Mahindra's R&D head Rajan Wadhera is now on stage to tell us about the new generation platform of the Scorpio.
This new gen platform will used from now on, on its future line-up as well.
The new platform has a new engine, clutch, axle, ABS, chassis, frame and more.
Mr Wadhera is now detailing each part of the platform.
The new Scorpio gets all-new rear axle, much higher load carrying capacity and shift on fly.
The stiffness of the floor of the cabin has been improved to limit road noise and reduce NVH levels with vibration dampers as well.
The turning radius has been reduced to improve the maneuverability of the Scorpio. It has been reduced from 5.4 to 5.7.
Fuel efficiency is now at 15.7 kmpl from 11.2kmpl, a marked improvement.
Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer - Auto Division at Mahindra & Mahindra, is now on stage to detail the styling and features of the car.
The imposing front grille with chrome highlights, dual projector headlamps to light up turns, LED parking lights and LED tail lamps are some of the highlights. The tough new road armour bumpers and 17-inch alloys make a great impression in this car.
For off-roading fans there is shift-on-fly. The heart of the beast is the 2.2mHawk engine.
Listening to the customers, they have made the changes. Mr Nayer is thanking all the customers for their trust.
Inside, there is fully-automated temp control, and a tech bundle of reverse parking assist, tyretronics for tyre pressure and the micro hybrid technolgy to save on fuel.
The interior comes in blue-grey.
There is also the dual tone black-grey dashboard, chrome finished AC vents with directionability, power windows have been moved to thdoors.
A new feature for safety is the panic-braking indicator apart from the digital immobiliser.
These are the variants for the new Scorpio: S2, which is the entry-level , S4 mHawk engine starts and has a 4WD option and comes with a safety package, the S6 also comes with a safety package, then there is the S8 and the all-new top-end variant is the S10 with all the new features addressed before. There will be a safety package for the S4 and S6 in the coming weeks.
There are 2 new colours apart from the three popular colours of the Scorpio: Molten Red and Regal Blue.
The S10 variant is now being compared to competition like the Toyota Innova Z and the Tata Safari Storme VX variants.
They have also attempted to compare the S8 variant with a sedan and a crossover.
