Live: New Mahindra Scorpio launch in India

After months of endless spy shots, rumours and speculations, the day has dawned when the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will officially arrive in the Indian market. Though quite a load of information relating to this hugely awaited SUV is already out, what we do not know and have been eagerly waiting to find out is the pricing. And that is something Mahindra will finally announce as it gets ready to launch the new Scorpio in a short while.

The new Scorpio has been eagerly awaited for all the right reasons. Not only is it more refined and modern compared to the model it replaces; the new Scorpio also promises to take the desirability quotient up for Mahindra with its XUV 500-inspired interiors and additional features.

It makes sense that you stay tuned to this page and catch all the live updates, images and first information about the all-new Scorpio.

The new Mahindra Scorpio launch is now underway.

Pawan Goenka takes us back to the beginning. The redefining moment for Mahindra, the day when Scorpio was born 12 years ago n 2002. It redefined the SUV category in India. It demonstrated for the first time the ability of engineers to do automotive development.

He is now detailing the timeline of the growth of the Scorpio. When they launched the Scorpio for the first time there was no electronics but now there are more than 20 computers working within it. Over the years they have focused on safety and riding comfort.

The new gen Scorpio is a quantum leap in style, technology and in design, says Pawan Goenka.

Mahindra and Mahindra chief executive Pravin Shah is now on stage to tell us more about the Scorpio.

Mr Shah tells the audience about the obstacles they faced while building the Scorpio. Today, 12 years later, Scorpio is an iconic brand and has emerged a champion. Domination, ability to raise the bar and remain consistent is what the Scorpio is all about.

There are more than 4.5 lakh Scorpios on the Indian roads.

2013-2014 witnessed the highest ever sales since its launch.

Mahindra's R&D head Rajan Wadhera is now on stage to tell us about the new generation platform of the Scorpio.

The imposing front grille with chrome highlights, dual projector headlamps to light up turns, LED parking lights and LED tail lamps are some of the highlights. The tough new road armour bumpers and 17-inch alloys make a great impression in this car.

For off-roading fans there is shift-on-fly. The heart of the beast is the 2.2mHawk engine.

Listening to the customers, they have made the changes. Mr Nayer is thanking all the customers for their trust.

Inside, there is fully-automated temp control, and a tech bundle of reverse parking assist, tyretronics for tyre pressure and the micro hybrid technolgy to save on fuel.

    The interior comes in blue-grey.

A new feature for safety is the panic-braking indicator apart from the digital immobiliser.

These are the variants for the new Scorpio: S2, which is the entry-level , S4 mHawk engine starts and has a 4WD option and comes with a safety package, the  S6 also comes with a safety package, then there is the S8 and the all-new top-end variant is the S10 with all the new features addressed before.
