Live Updates
All the seats are occupied, the event will begin in a few minutes.
Our host for the day, Gaurav Kapur, is on stage.
And we begin in typical Hyundai fashion -
Mr BS Seo, MD and CEO of HMIL is on the stage to give the welcome address.
Hyundai’s research team are talking about how the i20 Active was designed keeping the Indian youth’s requirements in mind.
So, where does the Active fit in? It is specially customised as a sports style vehicle and has positioned for the youth.
The i20 Active’s interior are offered in two trims - tangerine orange and aqua blue. The interior has been designed to make long journeys comfortable. It offers ample boot space, centre console armrest and more to make journeys relaxing.
For long hours of driving, the entertainment system does not disappoint either. It comes with an 'active' infotainment system with 2-DIN integrated audio system with a 1GB internal memory and 8 speakers.
The bluetooth system allows telephony as well a wireless music playback, the controls of which are also integrated on the steering wheel. So your driving experience is undistracted.
A very zippy feature of the i20 is the Smart Key which comes with a 'Welcome' function, which automatically opens the OVRMs when it detects the key in the car's vicinity.
It also gets a headlamp escort function to illuminate the path in the nights as well, basically dubbed as the goodbye function.
The car has one of the most advanced engines in the industry. The petrol variants are powered by the 1.2-litre Kappa engine, while the diesel variants are powered by the 1.4-litre CRDI unit, both of which are used in the Grand i10, Xcent and the Elite i20.
The petrol engine produces 83bhp and 113Nm of torque and comes with a five-speed manual transmission, while the diesel delivers 89bhp and 219Nm of torque through a six-speed manual gearbox.
For pothole-ridden roads, i20 Active comes with 190mm ground clearance thanks to the raised suspension.
In terms of safety, the i20 Active comes with front dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors with adaptive parking guidelines.
The i20 Active also comes with a smart pedal. In situations of panic braking, people tend to press both the accelerator and the brake. This new sytem overrides the accelerator when the brakes and accelerator are pressed simultaneously. It also comes with cornering lamps to improve the illumination on the road while maneuvering the car.
