BMW has announced a limited edition of their hybrid supercar, the BMW i8, for the Geneva Motor Show. The Protonic Red BMW i8 will be available on sale from September in Europe after its debut next month.
The Protonic Red hue is complemented by grey accents along with a new set of alloys. The interior gets a few more carbon fibre inserts and a red theme. On the performance front, the BMW i8 hybrid manages zero to 100kmph in just 4.4 seconds. It gets a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that develops 228bhp of power driving the rear wheels. The 139bhp electric motors powering the front wheels boost the combined power output to 357bhp giving the car a restricted top whack of 250kmph.
The limited edition car costs Rs 1.1 crore in the UK, is about Rs 9 lakh more expensive than the standard BMW i8. In India, with the import duties added, the standard BMW i8 already costs Rs 2.29 crore ( ex-showroom, Delhi).
