A lightly camouflaged prototype of the Mercedes GLC crossover has been caught on camera, ahead of its official debut later this year. When launched, this new model will replace the left-hand drive only GLK.
Thanks to the new naming structure by Mercedes, the GLC is the next-generation model of the GLK but with a new name. The former is said to be based on the latest generation C-Class and as a result, it will share most of the underpinnings with the new C.
Unlike the GLK, the GLC will be available in both left and right-hand drive configurations, meaning it will be sold in markets including the UK and a few Asian regions.
The availability of a right-hand drive configuration means that Mercedes-Benz India will also be able to sell this vehicle in India to compete with the likes of BMW X3 and Audi Q5. More details on the new GLC will be disclosed closer to its global debut later this year.
