Lexus has revealed its sinister-looking GT3 race car in the form of the RC F GT3 manifestation. The racer will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in America this year and simultaneously will compete in the Super GT series in Japan. Lexus will pit two vehicles each in both the races.
In the GT3-spec, the car will compete in the GTD category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series under 3GT Racing on American soil. Whereas back home in Japan, it will slot into the GT300 class of the Super GT series under LM Corsa category. It should be noted that entering in the GT300 is a step down for the RC F since it was racing in the GT500 class until now. This might be because Lexus has plans to enter the new LC 500 into the bigger category instead.
The undisclosed changes under the skin of the 1,250kg racecar include a screaming V8 developing around 540bhp. This means the weight is down by 1,800kg and power is up from 450bhp compared to the standard car.
Lexus will initially introduce the RC F GT3 in the two particular races only, while Toyota’s Gazoo racing division will consequently work upon the prospects to take the racer in other competitions across the world. According to Lexus, by entering in customer motorsports, the brand wants to inspire customers and prove the prowess of its performance-focused F models to the customers.
Toyota’s premium brand Lexus has plans to enter the Indian market soon. The standard RC F has been spotted on Indian roads a couple of time and it was also part of the private unveiling in India recently.
