Ahead of Lexus announcing its official launch in India, the automaker has privately unveiled the RX, ES, LX and the RC F. The cars will be introduced in India via the CBU route and import records reveal that the automaker has already imported around 29 units of the RX 450h in the country. The automaker has been focusing more on petrol version due to tight diesel regulations in the country. However, with ease on policies, we can expect to see diesel versions being offered too.
Lexus RX 450H one of the most popular product in the company’s lineup is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol hybrid engine that comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox to generates 304bhp of power. For maximum fuel efficiency in traffic, the V6 engine automatically shuts down and the hybrid system takes over. The upcoming vehicle gets front-wheel drive system as standard, while there will also be an all-wheel drive version on offer. The upcoming model is expected to cost anywhere between Rs 70 lakh – 80 lakh.
The LX 450d, a flagship product for Lexus gets a twin-turbo 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine that generates 266bhp of power and 650Nm of torque. There will also be a petrol powered LX570 that is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 engine that generates 380bhp of power and 546Nm of torque. The power is delivered to all four-wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. On the pricing aspect, we believe that the LX 450d might be priced around Rs 1.20 crore.
The Lexus ES 300h shares technology and features with the Camry sedan. The upcoming Lexus sedan will continue to be powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine which is assisted by an electric motor and comes mated to a CVT transmission. The modest engine produces 202bhp of power and 213Nm of torque. As for the pricing aspect, it is expected to be priced around Rs 75 lakh.
The Lexus RC F is purely for performance enthusiasts in the country who also crave for premium features. The premium coupe is powered by 5.0-litre 2UR-GSE V8 engine that comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission to generate 463bhp of power and 389Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100kph in just about 4.4 seconds, while the top speed is restricted to 4.4 seconds. On the pricing aspect, it is anticipated to be priced around Rs 3 crore.
