Lexus India is all set to launch their flagship sedan in India. The LS 500h will make its Indian debut tomorrow with an expected price tag of Rs 1.82 crores.
TheLS locks horns with other Luxo-barges like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 apart from the Jaguar XJ. The Japanese flagship saloon is in its fifth generation now and is based on the new TNGA platform making it more modern. Unlike the simple luxury sedans, the modern Lexus is flamboyant. It looks very aggressive and outgoing especially with that kinked chrome Spindle grille up front, the sleek headlamps and the royal-esque creases. The silhouette is majestic as well.
Lexus is all about premium luxury, so obviously, the LS is a big tech loaded luxury sedan. The cabin is focussed on luxury with leather upholstery and an opulent use of premium materials. Large touchscreens are the order of the day and the Lexus makes sure you get one for entertainment and one for the instrument cluster. The list of creature comforts is obviously long to make sure you are not left wanting for anything more.
The Lexus LS always had the V8 engines but this is the first of the LS to get a V6. Under the long hood is a hybrid 3.5-litre V6, assisted by two electric motors giving the car a combined output of 354bhp. This along with the 10-speed transmission is enough to propel the LS 500h to a 100kmph in a quick 5.2 seconds.
As all the Lexus’ in India, the LS will take the CBU route. Although it will demand a slight premium over its direct rivals, the LS comes as a threat to the Mercedes-Maybach S500 priced at Rs. 1.86 crores and the BMW 750 Li M Sport which is priced at Rs. 1.68 crores. Bookings for the LS have already begun.
