Jaguar has announced that it will bring its Le Mans winning C-Type classic race car to participate in the 2013 Cartier ‘Travel with Style’ Concours d’Elegance on February 9th and 10th of February in Mumbai. It has also announced that it will launch the F-Type sports car, which was unveiled at 2012 Paris Motor Show, in India later on this year.
In 1951, the Jaguar C-Type won Le Mans at its first attempt, with a further victory in 1953. Its successor the D-Type took Le Mans wins in 1955, 1956 and 1957. Technical innovations such as the C-Type's disc brakes made their debut on Jaguars at Le Mans, and were rapidly adopted by car makers the world over. The Jaguar C-Type is powered by a 3.4-litre straight-six engine producing 200bhp and close to 300 Nm of torque. Power is fed to the rear-wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox.
The Jaguar F-Type is the spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type (successor of the D-Type) and the first vehicle in the segment in 50 years. It has evolved from the C-X 16 type concept car, sans roff of course. This new car is available in three trims – F-type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S; offering three powertrains, a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 (340bhp/450Nm), supercharged 3.0-litre V6 (380bhp/460Nm) and supercharged 5.0-litre V8 (495bhp/625Nm).
All three versions will be mated to ZF’s eight-speed automatic with paddles and a traditional gear stick instead of Jag’s rotary selector. 0 to 100kph comes in 5.1 seconds for the F-TYPE, 4.8 for the S model and 4.2 for the V8 S. The V8 S has a top track speed restricted at 300kph.
The heritage Jaguar C-Type will be displayed at the Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Worli, Mumbai from 2nd to 7th February and will be at the Cartier ‘Travel with Style’ Concours d’Elegance from the 9th to 10th February.
