Audi has announced a new entry-level engine option for those who feel that the latest generation Q7 isn’t really an efficient full-size SUV. The brand has revealed its new 216bhp, 3-litre V6 TDI engine for the popular soft-roader.
Complementing the existing 270bhp version of the same 3-litre unit, the new lower output option is capable of returning in excess of 20kmpl with CO2 emissions of as little as 148g/km. But despite its focus on efficiency this new entry point to the Q7 range isn’t short-changed on performance. The unit’s 216 bhp of power and 500Nm torque delivered between 1,250rpm and 3,000rpm, are converted by the 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission into a 0-100kmph time of 7.3 seconds and a potential top speed of well over 210kmph.
Audi has revealed that this new entry-level Q7 diesel is available in SE and S line specification and is due for launch in certain parts of Europe in October. Audi India, meanwhile, is gearing up to launch the latest generation of the Q7. The carmaker was recently seen running prototypes of it and the all-new A4 in Kargil.
