The latest (third) generation of the Honda Fit made its debut last year. Also named Jazz in some of the markets, this new model first went on sale in Japan in September 2013. Now, while us all of us here in India await the official launch, the Chinese are about to get a taste of this big, spacious hatchback.
The all-new Fit will soon make its China-debut at the upcoming 2014 Beijing Motor Show, ahead of its official launch in the second half of the year. Slated to be made in China by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture, the car has been spotted by the Chinese car news website Car News China.
For the Chinese market, the Fit will be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine tuned to produce around 130bhp of power and 155Nm of torque. The four cylinder unit will come mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
The new Fit is expected to go on sale in China during the second half of 2014. As for the car’s India-debut, we can expect Honda India to launch it here by the end of the year. The engine options for the India-spec Jazz are expected to be the same as the ones found in the Amaze with the availability of two fuel options; a 1.2-litre petrol mill and the new 1.5-litre diesel engine. In the current state of tune the engines produce 86PS and 109Nm of torque and 100PS and 200Nm of torque respectively. Honda, in all probability, could detune the Jazz’s diesel engine, in India, for improved fuel efficiency.
