The Ford Mustang is quite a popular model in the Chinese market but the sporty coupe currently is available only as a grey market vehicle. Now though it seems the mighty Mustang could soon arrive legally in the local market.
According to a recent report by Car News China, the latest generation of the Mustang will be officially launched in China on January 20.
When launched, the Mustang will be offered with a choice of two petrol engine units displacing 2.3 and 5.0-litre respectively. The less horsepower version will get Ford’s widely acclaimed four-cylinder EcoBoost engine which develops around 310bhp of power and nearly 500Nm of torque.
In China, the Mustang will go head to head with the Chevrolet Camaro which has been around for quite some time. The latter, however, only gets a 3.6-litre V6 engine for China. The Mustang, then, with its 5-litre V8 engine will have a substantial performance advantage over the Camaro when it arrives in the Chinese market.
