Autocar UK has revealed details of 16 Land Rover models that will be launched by 2020, as the Tata owned brand aims to double its sales to 6,00,000 units per annum. The report suggests that the entire model range will be divided into three categories – Range Rover (luxury), Defender (utility) and Discovery/Freelander (leisure).
The most number of additions will be made to the ‘leisure’ range with introduction of four new models in the next six to seven years. The Range Rover badge will extend to six models including new Evoque XL, Evoque convertible and new Range Rover Sport. The Defender will get seven-seater and crew cab pickup variants and we will also see production version of the DC100 concept.
Apart from these details, there also reports about JLR’s plans to invest GBP 2 billion a year till 2020. The money will help Land Rover develop new platform and also establish itself in emerging markets – mainly China.
