Land Rover's pavilion at the 2014 Geneva Motor show (scheduled for March) will display the Defender packed with a load of new features. Two new optional packages- Black Pack and Silver pack will be launched at the event.
The Defender Black Pack includes a Santorini black coloured roof, grille, grille surround, headlamp surrounds and wheel arches. It also boasts a privacy glass and ebony Alston headliner. Gloss black Sawtooth alloy wheels and gloss black heavy duty wheels have been added to this package.
Coming to the Silver Pack, the Defender is painted in a bright Indus silver finish to the contrast roof (either body colour or contrast). This complements with the same finish to the front profile, the grille surround and the headlamp surrounds. The car stands tall on dual finish alloy wheels. At the back of the vehicle, a bright light pack incorporating white tail and indicator lights can be seen.
Apart from these two optional packages, the Defender can be opted with additional optional features like a new aluminium finish to the vehicle's side runners, contrast finish leather seats and privacy glass. An ebony Alston headliner can also be opted for.
Until now, the 90 and 110 model of the Land Rover Defender were equipped with ABS and Dynamic Stability Control as standard in the UK. This year, even the 130 wheelbase model of the Defender will be fitted with ABS. Pricing of these vehicles will be revealed at The Geneva Motor Show.
Unfortunately, the Defender has never been officially available in our country. With the production of the Defender coming to an end by next year, Land Rover will come up with a new successor of the iconic vehicle. We hope and expect that at least this replacement will be made available to the masses in India.
