Land Rover has announced that it will debut the 2014 Range Rover Sport at the 2013 New York Auto Show which is scheduled to begin at the end of the month. The Indian-owned British automaker has released a teaser image which does not reveal much expect for the fact that the 2014 SUV will get a two-tone paint job.
The new Range Rover Sport, claims the company, will be its most modern and fastest vehicle ever built. The 2014 Sport will make use of the same light-weight aluminium chassis that underpins the standard Range Rover. Thanks to this chassis, the standard Range Rover dropped over 420kgs and this number should greatly benefit the upcoming Sport.
While not much is known about the interiors or new design features both on the inside and outside, we believe that the 2014 Range Rover Sport will improved versions of the same set of petrol and diesel engines that sit in the previous model. This includes the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, the 5.0-litre V8 and the top-of the range 5.0-litre supercharged V8.
As with all new Range Rovers that have been launched in the last one year, this one is also expected to get the new ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. Land Rover might also offer the 9-speed gearbox that debuted on a Range Rover Evoque at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you all the details from the unveiling.
