Land Rover has showcased a new technology called Discovery Vision. In its most basic essence, the technology with the help of augmented reality technology makes the bonnet see-through and provides the driver a view of the terrain under the car. Such a development will make off-roading a much easier task due to the driver also having a view of the path of the front two-wheels.
The Holy Grail to this technology is a new type of smart windscreen that has the ability to display full-width and length computer images that are generated by cameras mounted in the SUV’s grille. It is expected to make its production debut in a new range of Discovery vehicles that are expected to be launched in the industry by next year.
This is one of the many innovations that is sure to make its way to cheaper vehicles within the next few years and will be a great boon to those having to drive in adverse conditions on a regular basis. It also gives a preview of what the future of heads up displays will be like within the next few years.
