Land Rover has unveiled the latest iteration of the Range Rover Sentinel. It is an armoured version of the SUV, which gets more power, latest tech in occupant protection, all-terrain capability and unparalleled refinement.
This Range Rover Sentinel is hand-built by the carmaker's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Division at Oxford Road facility in the UK. It is based on the standard wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography and provides the highest levels of protection an SUV can offer. Created to withstand armour piercing incendiary bullets, the vehicle can even withstand deadly blasts from DM51 grenade explosions.
Another highlight is the specially configured front window, which allows an opening for 150mm enabling exchange or delivery of documents without exposing the occupant to potential attackers. And just in case of an attack, there's a special armoured glass in order to help protect the occupants.
The Range Rover Sentinel is powered by a 380bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine replacing the V6 mill seen under the hood earlier. Thanks to this upgrade, the huge SUV can sprint from 0-100kmph in around 10 seconds.
The car is being showcased at the Home Office Security and Policing Show at UK's Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre. Land Rover India has confirmed that they will soon make this custom-built vehicle available in our country as well. Prices have not been announced as this will be a made-to-order product.
