The new Land Rover Discovery Sport’s launch is still impending and the manufacturer has already received over 200 orders for the upcoming car. The SUV will be launched on September 2 for the Indian market.
The Indian-spec Discovery Sport measures 4,600mm in length, 2,173mm in width, 1,724mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 212mm and water wading capability of 600mm. The car is underpinned by a lighter platform and sports the company's latest design philosophy. The new SUV also gets the optional 5+2 seating configuration, terrain response, park assist, and the nine-speed automatic transmission among other functions.
The Discovery Sport will be sold in four variants S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury. We can expect two engine options for the vehicle, one a TD4 150PS engine that produces 148bhp of power and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the other will be a TD4 180PS diesel mill that churns out 178bhp of power and comes paired to the nine-speed automatic transmission.
Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said, "We are very excited that Land Rover’s most versatile premium SUV, ‘Discovery Sport’ has received such an overwhelming response from our distinguished and discerning customers in India. We thank them for their spirited response and reposing their trust once again in the iconic Land Rover brand."
Jaguar Land Rover is locally assembling the vehicle in the Indian market making us believe that they will be able to put up a competitive price tag for this CKD product. We can expect the variants to be priced in the Rs 46 lakh to Rs 50 lakh price bracket.
