Land Rover is looking to build an SUV that will compete with the Bentley Bentayga within a few years. But the list doesn’t end here, and in addition to locking horns with the Bentley, the new SUV would also rival the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and the Mercedes-Maybach SUV which is still in the pipeline.
Design chief for Land Rover, Gerry McGovern, told reporters that there is space for a new flagship model to occupy the position above the long-wheelbase Range Rover SV Autobiography. If this project gets the go-ahead, the model will undoubtedly be the most expensive Land Rover SUV till date, and could be a different model altogether. It’s possible that the new SUV could be more-or-less the same size as the current range-topper, but it may have a totally different personality and target market.
Land Rover claims that when their new flagship SUV goes on sale in the near future, it would have the upper edge when compared to the Bentley Bentayga. Now, we’ll just have to wait and watch for that to happen, so stay tuned to CarWale for more news regarding Land Rover’s upcoming plans.
