Land Rover has launched the facelifted version of the Freelander 2 for Rs 38.67 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The latest iteration of the entry-level vehicle from the British SUV maker was launched globally in August last year. The Freelander 2 along with the Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel, are the only vehicles assembled by JLR locally. The SUV has received mostly cosmetic changes both on the inside and outside.
On the outside, the 2013 Freelander 2 gets new LED headlights and tail lights, daytime running lamps and refreshed 17-inch alloy wheels (HSE variant only). The grille and fog lamp bezels now sport a bright finish and there are paint detailing changes to the front grille surround. It is now being offered in two more colours; Aintree Green and Havana in addition to the existing shades.
Inside, Land Rover has refreshed the centre console completely and has also replaced the Terrain Response dial with a set of switches. The Freelander 2 also gets a new five-inch display to provide information on various items like temperature, gear position as well as steering mounted controls for the same. The features list now includes Passive Start system, rear view camera, hard-drive based navigation system and a Meridian audio system with choice of 380W and 825W outputs.
The Indian-spec Freelander 2 will continue to be powered by the four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel mill in two states of tune; 150bhp+420Nm of torque and 190bhp+420Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via six-speed automatic and Land Rover’s all-wheel drive terrain response system.
