The entry-level model from the Land Rover camp, the Freelander, will get another update next year. A test mule has been spied undergoing testing.
The spy pictures aren’t that up close but, we can see the vehicle seems to have grown quite a bit from the current Freelander 2. The test vehicle is heavily camouflaged, it is difficult to talk about the design elements, though the vehicles lines are evident and it looks like it will wear a sporty design in comparison to the current model. The headlight design is mildly evident and looks similar to the Evoque’s LED lamps.
The front windscreen sweeps its way and meets the sloping roofline, further signifying the shift to a sportier design. It also gets a dual exhaust mufflers and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.Although the company officials haven’t been vocal about the platform the Freelander 3 will ride on, it might be built around the LR-MS platform that forms the base for the Evoque.
The Freelander 3 may continue to be powered by the current range of engines, and might get the new four-cylinder engines, under development by the company, at a later stage. The new range of motors will offer better fuel efficiency and emit lesser CO2, according to the company.
In India, the Freelander 3 might be made available shortly within its global launch and might add some excitement with its new styling to buyers opting for an entry-level Land Rover.
