The Land Rover Discovery Sport has been unofficially revealed in scale model form, ahead of its official debut on September 3, 2014. The vehicle is the first member from the new Discovery family which will replace the existing Freelander.
The leaked image shows two different scale models of the upcoming Discovery Sport. The orange coloured model looks quite sporty with its black wheels, grille and the roof. The black model, on the right, features silver alloy wheels.
The new Discovery Sport is inspired by the Discovery Vision Concept and will feature 5+2 seating as standard in the UK. The vehicle has flexible seating configuration and premium features including a big infotainment screen, leather upholstery, a full panoramic roof and lots more.
Since the Audi Q5 and the BMW X5 are sold only as five seaters, the Discovery Sport, with its 5+2 seating, will be the only vehicle in its class to offer a seven- seater configuration when it goes on sale next year. Having said that, the Discovery Sport’s third row will be relatively small as compared to a full-size seven- seater like the new Range Rover Sport.
Full details on the new Discovery Sport will be available by September 3 because that’s when the SUV will be officially revealed. The model will replace the existing Freelander when it is launched sometime next year. Expect Land Rover to sell this new Discovery Sport in India late next year.
