The 2014 Land Rover Discovery has been unveiled ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The SUV, currently in its fourth generation, was updated in October last year both inside and outside and the same is the case this year where the changes have been more subtle.
The 2014 Range Rover gets a slightly revised front grille, bumpers and headlights as well as new daytime LEDs. The changes now make the Discovery 4 look more similar to the 2014 Range Rover that was unveiled at the end of last year. It also gets different alloy wheels and the Land Rover name in front has now been replaced by the word “Discovery”.
There are no details of the interiors but we believe that since it has been just a year since the SUV underwent a major revision in terms of features, not much will change. However, we can only confirm this once the car is unveiled. However, we do know that the Discovery 4 can be had with a new Meridian 17 speaker music system.
The engine line up is also expected to remain the same as before; a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which will do duty in the base model. It produces 255PS and 600Nm of torque. In some of the international markets, the same engine has been fitted to a commercial variant but it has been tuned to produce 210PS. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a ZF eight-speed transmission and the British SUV maker’s Terrain Response System. It does 0-100kmph in 8.8 seconds and then go on to hit a top speed of 180kmph.
We expect that Land Rover will bring the updated Discover 4 to the Indian market during the Auto Expo next year.
