The Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4) has been updated for 2013. The list of changes to the SUV includes a new engine, revised transmission, updated infotainment system and various styling enhancements both inside and outside.
The main update is a new twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which will do duty in the base model. It produces 207bhp and 520Nm of torque. The V6 replaces the 2.7-litre engine that had been a standard in the range for a long time. The middle variant will have the same engine but will produce 245bhp and 600Nm of torque.
The top-end model gets a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 petrol producing 369bhp and 510Nm of torque. Power is now transmitted to all four wheels via a new eight-speed ZF transmission using the company’s full-time four-wheel drive system.
Inside, the 2013 LR4 gets a revised infotainment system which includes a digital TV tuner and a new navigation system. The base variant gets an eight speaker system while the top-end model comes with a more ‘concert hall style’ 17 speaker set.
There are also two new leather package and trims for the cabin. The top-end variant now sits on 19-inch seven spoke alloy wheels which can be customised with an optional Black Design Pack. The LR4 is now being offered in five new colours; Havana, Barolo Black, Barossa, Mariana Black and Causeway Grey.
It is likely that Land Rover will bring the updated version of the Discovery 4 to India in the middle of 2013.
