Land Rover has stopped the production of the Defender. The last SUV manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull production facility was rolled out of the plant on January 25,2016.
Last year a unique vehicle named 'Defender 2,000,000' was manufactured to commemorate the landmark sales of two million units of the Series Land Rover and Defender. This was to celebrate the 67 years of iconic Land Rover production. Now, 68 years later, the car had to be rolled off the production line due to the strict emission and safety norms.
The original Land Rover Series I was first launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948. Ever since then, two million units of the Series I, II III and Defender were sold in Europe. The Defender was known for its off-roading capabilities and tough construction. Nevertheless, we can expect the next-gen Defender to come in 2018, in five body styles and again create a huge excitement among off-road enthusiasts and fans all over.
