We all love the Lancia Stratos, the first supercar in the world of rallying, the one that ended the reign of the Mini and dominated world rallying in the 70s, forcing competition to build four-wheel drives because two weren't just enough.
And it seems that our prayers have been answered and how! Because, an Italian company, Manifattura Automobili Torino to be precise, has decided to resurrect the Stratos.
But this is not the first time we are speaking about the Stratos coming back. A modern prototype of the Stratos was built a few years ago by Pininfarina with underpinnings from the Ferrari F430 and yes, it was powered by the monstrous V8.
Pumping out over 500bhp of power we aren’t sure if it is the Ferrari V8. Also, the underpinnings might be taken from the Alfa 4C, but the new Stratos is almost the same as the one designed by Pininfarina and will be built in three avatars - road, race and rally. To be customized for all the potential 25 buyers (all of which would have already been frozen), the Stratos will be custom homologated as per the current regulations.
We just hope a good number of these buyers actually drive the car like it should be driven and not store it in climate controlled garages as investments.
